Electromagnetic switching device for load currents

An electromagnetic switch for switching currents in a load operation range has a high-speed circuit breaker connected in series to protect the contacts (6) from melting in the overload range. The electromagnetic switch is highly reliable and compact. The electromagnet (2) of the switch (1) is arranged at the centre of the contact bridge carrier (8) and directly coupled to its centre. The high-speed circuit breaker (3) acts upon the movable contact (6) by means of a rocker (15) and is only actuated in the presence of overload currents. One takes advantage of the fact that only the directly coupled driving system of the switch is used in the set current range.
