<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of easily and simultaneously controlling a portion of a plurality of pixel control lines. <P>SOLUTION: In a partial display mode, a source IC 18 outputs a start signal ST instructing the start of vertical scanning at an H level to a vertical scanning circuit 14 during a plurality of periods before the time T 1 to after the time T 8. Shift registers 142.1, 142.2, etc., sequentially shift the start signal ST synchronizing with a clock signal CLOCK, thereby raising activity possible signals SR 1, SR 2, etc., sequentially to the H level, respectively. The source IC 18 outputs an enable signal ENAB at the H level to the vertical scanning circuit 14 after the time T 8 when the activity possible signals SR 1 to SR 4 rise simultaneously to the H level.
