WATER-BASED PAINT COMPOSITION

To obtain water-based paint compositions with which there is broad scope for design of the base resin, and which can be made low-solvent, and which are also easy to apply and have outstanding storage stability, and can also form paint film of outstanding water-resistance, durability and smoothness. Waterbased paint composition which contains a water-dispersible acrylic graft copolymer (A) of acid value 10-30 mg and hydroxyl value 50-150, which is a graft copolymer in which an acrylic copolymer of acid value 35-120 mg KOH/g and hydroxyl value 50-150 mg KOH/g, and an acrylic copolymer of acid value 15 and hydroxyl value 50-150 are graft polymerized via chemical bonds, and internally non-crosslinked acrylic fine particles (B) of acid value 15-200 and hydroxyl value 15-200 which are a copolymer made by emulsion polymerizing .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenic unsaturated monomer, with the proportions of the total resin solids in the paint being accounted for by each being 10-90 wt.% for component (A) and 10-90 wt.% for component (B).
