Storage stable biocide composition and process for making the same

Prepn. of antimicrobial compsn. (A) that is storage stable below 5 deg.C comprises: (a) mixing technical-grade 8-18C alkylamine (I, 40-60 wt.% C12) with solvent (B); (b) adding HCl and allowing heat of neutralisation to warm the mixt. to 22-95 deg.C; (c) adding hydrogen cyanamide (II) at a rate sufficient to maintain 75-95 deg.C; (d) maintaining this temp. for about 4 hrs.; (e) cooling to below 30 deg.C; (f) diluting with (B); and (g) adjusting pH of diluted mixt. to below 1.
