The gas-fillable airbag (1) is held on the frame (2) in the passenger area of the vehicle by a clamping device which forms a structural unit with the airbag. The size of the preferably tubular airbag is measured so that all the frame parts dangerous in an accident are covered to prevent direct contact with the passenger in event of crash. The elongated airbag stretches along the upper door frame part (2) of the bodywork. To produce the filling pressure a tube matching the shape of the door frame part is mounted inside the airbag, whereby a filling gas with predetermined pressure can be produced in the tube. The tube has one or more ideal break points which open into the inside of the airbag when a certain pressure prevails in the inside of the tube. <IMAGE> |
