The invention relates to 4-imino-oxazolidine-2-one derivatives represented by the general formula (1): <CHEM> and a process for producing said compounds by reacting aryl isocyanates of the general formula (2): <CHEM> with methacrolein cyanohydrin in the presence of a base, as well as a herbicide containing said compounds as an active ingredient; it also relates to a process for producing oxazolidinedione derivatives useful as herbicides by hydrolyzing said compounds.
