The metal bowl is formed with an upper rim slightly proud of the outer profile and with an outwards facing lip (19) at the top edge. The inside of the bowl and the outer ring are polished while the rest of the outer surface of the bowl has a coarser finish to enable the user to grip the bowl more securely. The lip is formed by contouring the inner profile and assists pouring. The bottom of the bowl (20) is flat while the remainder of the profile is near spherical. The outwards directed lip aids pouring and improves the grip when the bowl is held against the body when stirring.
