<p>A method for producing a photographic silver halide emulsion containing silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of 50 mol% or more and at least 30% of the surface area of the grains comprising Ä111Ü faces is disclosed, wherein the silver halide grains are formed in the presence of at least one kind of compounds represented by formula (I): <CHEM> wherein R1 represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, or an aralkyl group; R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 each represents a hydrogen atom or a group capable of substituting for the hydrogen atom, R2 and R3, R3 and R4, R4 and R5, and R5 and R6 each may be ring-condensed, provided that at least one of R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 represents an aryl group; and X<-> represents a counter anion. <IMAGE></p> |
