Purification of natural gas

Hydrocarbons containing six or more carbon atoms ("natural gas liquids") and water vapour are removed from natural gas by a series of steps. In one embodiment the natural gas liquids and water vapour are removed by passing the natural gas first through a bed of aluminium-deficient zeolite, having a silicon-to-aluminium atomic ratio of greater 100:1 to remove the natural gas liquids, then through a bed of water-selective adsorbent. In another embodiment, a combination of an aluminium-deficient adsorbent and the absorption system are used to remove the natural gas liquids and water vapour from the natural gas. <IMAGE>
