<p>A process for separating methane from a gas mixture containing methane and one or more of nitrogen, oxygen and argon by pressure swing adsorption in an bed of adsorbent which selectively adsorbs methane which includes the steps of flowing the gas mixture cocurrently into the bed of adsorbent at a production pressure in the range of about 15 to about 45 psig (2 - 4.1 bar), cocurrently purging the bed of adsorbent with methane-rich gas while simultaneously withdrawing nonadsorbed product gas from the nonadsorbed product end of the adsorber, and countercurrently depressurising said bed of adsorbent, thereby producing methane-rich gas. <IMAGE></p> |
