PURPOSE:To obtain a locked condition for a steering wheel by providing a primary serration part on a fixed side bracket and a secondary serration part on a shaft, and enabling both serration parts to be coupled to each other. CONSTITUTION:A primary serration part 9 is formed on the inner wall of the hollow part of a fixing bracket 2 and a secondary serration part 10 on the external surface of a shaft 4. Both serration parts 9 and 10 are so made as to be capable of gearing with each other and the tips of the serration teeth are sharpened to permit the easy coupling of the serration parts 9 and 10. When an ignition key has been pulled out, an electric motor 6 moves the shaft 4 and the secondary serration part 10 comes to gear with the primary serration part 9, thereby locking a steering wheel. |
