PURPOSE: To provide an optical recording medium having enhanced optical resolving power by interposing a blocking layer which selectively blocks the passing of radiant light emitted from a nonlinear optical layer by irradiation with light between a substrate and the nonlinear optical layer. CONSTITUTION: This optical recording medium consists of a substrate 11, a blocking layer 12, a nonlinear optical layer 13, a recording layer 14 and a protective layer 15. Glass or polycarbonate is used as the substrate 11 and a dyestuff as a saturable absorber is used as the optical material of the optical layer 13. Spiropyrane or spiroxazine as an org. compd. having photochromism or spirobenzo-selenazolinobenzopyrane as a reverse photochromic compd. is, e.g. used as the saturable absorbing dyestuff. Spin coating, spraying, dipping or other method is adopted as a film forming method and the thickness of the optical layer 13 is regulated to 10-5,000nm, preferably 100-2,000nm. |
