<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress discharge of all toxic materials such as UHC, CO generated at burning by providing a notable cross sectionally enlarged part for self- igniting a fuel and air mixture at a second stage in a mixer for forming the mixture at a first stage in a multi-stage burner. SOLUTION: A first stage 1 has a mixer 100 for forming a fuel and air mixture 19 at a head side, a catalyst 3 disposed at the downstream side of the mixer 100 and completely burns the mixture 19 by the catalyst 3. A vortex- inducing unit 200 is disposed at the downstream side of the catalyst 3, and thereby hot gas, 3, turns into a swirling flow. Gas fuel and/or liquid fuel 9 can be injected in a gas main flow 4 at the downstream side of the unit 200. A second stage 2, provided continuing to the flowing direction forms an intrinsic burning zone 11, has a notable cross sectional enlarged part 12, which specifies the flow cross sectional area of the starting end side of the stage 2, thereby effectively self-igniting the mixture 19 to stabilize a flame surface 21.</p> |
