There is disclosed a device for reducing real power consumption associated with a load that is connected to a power distribution system. In general, the device is to be arranged at the input terminal of the load. The device is of a compact construction that requires less material to fabricate compared to the prior art. The device includes used of an autotransformer (1) to reduce the power supply voltage, thus the real power. The supply voltage is reduce to within a pre-set level through at least a tapping terminal (3, 4, 5) but within the range that can still provide sufficient power the connected load. The device also includes used of a reactor (20) for filtering harmonic noises and to correct the power factor of the power distribution system together with the autotransformer (21).
