<p>PURPOSE: To produce a plant resistant to antibiotic substances, etc., in a high efficiency by introducing an antibiotic-resistance gene into a plant of the genus Agrostis. CONSTITUTION: Protoplast of a plant of the genus Agrostis to be transformed is suspended together with a plasmid containing an antibiotic-resistance gene, the plasmid is introduced into the protoplast by polyethylene glycol treatment, electroporation, etc., a cell cluster is formed, an adventitious bud or an adventitious embryo is formed from the cell cluster and a transformant of the plant of the genus Agrostis is regenerated from the adventitious bud or the adventitious embryo. In the case of introducing the gene by a particle gun process, the antibiotic-resistance gene is shot into a cell together with a metallic particle to introduce the gene into the cell cluster and the transformant of the plant of the genus Agrostis is regenerated from the cell cluster by a method similar to the above process.</p> |
