PURPOSE: To detect abnormality of a circuit with a simple and inexpensive structure, reduce disadvantage to a user by continuing the operation upon detection of the abnormality based on the extent of the abnormality, and prevent generation of severe damage to the an air conditioner by discontinuing the operation. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner is prepared by the communication of an external machine 1 composed of a compressor 3 and an external heat exchanger 4 with an internal machine 2 composed of a throttle device 6 and an internal heat exchanger 5 through a coolant piping 7. A control device controls the compressor 3. With respect to the control device, a resistor voltage sensing means 16 senses voltage between input and output terminals of a resistor 13. A relay malfunction determination means 17 determines a contact condition of a relay 14. A first adjusting means 41 adjusts an output of an inversion circuit control means 12 to an inversion circuit 11 in the case that abnormality occurs at the contact of the relay based on the determination result. Operation of the device is succeeded or suspended based on the extent of the abnormality. |
