PURPOSE: To reduce loss of phosphoric acid caused by scattering by condensing and recovering phosphoric acid vapor evaporated by heat of cell reaction on the way of a reaction gas passage on the inside of a cell. CONSTITUTION: In an electrode-with-rib type phosphoric acid fuel cell, a non- reacting region B (an insulating sheet 8 is placed between an electrode substrate 4 and a matrix 6) of a cell reaction functioning as a condensing part of phosphoric vapor is formed in an outlet side part of a reaction gas passage of the electrode substrate 4 in at least one of a hydrogen electrode 3 and an air electrode 7. A hydrophilic part 4a is formed in an outlet side part of the gas passage of the electrode substrate with a rib corresponding to the non-reacting region, phosphoric acid vapor vaporized on the inside of a cell is condensed and liquefied in the non-reacting region on the outlet side of the reaction gas passage, penetrated into the hydrophilic part by capillary action, then recovered with a reserve plate 2. |
