POINTER TYPE DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF RETURNING ITS POINT TO ORIGIN

PURPOSE: To perform location of the origin of a pointer only based upon electric information supplied to a step motor and make accurate setting of the origin of the pointer irrespective of the accuracy in the pointer installation. CONSTITUTION: The device is provided with a pointer 11, a step motor 14 to locate the pointer 11 in the position complying with the number of received steps, and an encoder 13 to output the information associated with the indicating position of the pointer. The device further includes a reference position information keeping means 21a to keep the reference position information acquired as the number of received steps of the step motor in the reference position where the output of encoder has varied and an origin position information keeping means 21b to keep the origin position information obtained as the number of received steps of the step motor in the position where the pointer 11 indicates the origin P1.
