PURPOSE: To provide a stimulable scanner which can read the images free from the variance that can be visually recognized even in a high density read mode by reducing the scanning pitch. CONSTITUTION: This scanner is provided with a sheet holding means which can cylindrically hold a sheet 2 to be scanned, a spinner 25 including the light convergence means 27 and 29 which converge the light 11 sent from a light source 10 that irradiates the light on the sheet 2 onto the surface of the sheet 2, and a photoelectric detection means 32 which performs the photoelectric detection of the light sent from the sheet 2, a spindle motor 28 which revolves the spinner 25 in the same direction as the center axis of the cylindrical surface of the cylindrically held sheet 2, and a subscanning means which relatively moves the sheet holding means to the spinner 25 in the direction parallel to the center axis of the cylindrical surface of the sheet 2. Then plural rolling elements are added to satisfy fb /6<=|f-n1 fb|<=fb /2 (fb : rotational frequency of the motor 28, n1 : an integer) for the oscillation frequency (f) of the bearing of the motor 28.
