PURPOSE: To obtain a blood pressure-regulating agent effective under neuroleptanesthesia(NL), containing a calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This blood pressure-regulating agent contains CGRP or its derivative and a salt thereof as an active ingredient. Prostagrandin E1 capable of remarkably lowering blood pressure under the intravenous anesthesia of barbiturate, etc., or under the inhalatant anesthesia of halothane, etc., is not effective under neuroleptanesthesia(NL). But the continuous intravenous injection of the medicine containing the CGRP compound as an active ingredient under the NL exhibits the lowering of the blood pressure rapidly in a short time with good regulation. The blood pressure-regulating agent is useful for maintaining a low blood pressure under the NL or for treating an abnormal hypertension syndrome generated during an operation. The blood pressure- regulating agent is preferably parenterally administered at a dose of 1μg to 200mg per once for an adult. As the CGRP, desalanyl-deamino-humanα-CGRP is exemplified.
