PURPOSE: To perform the estimation of a surface friction factor quickly as well as to make it instantly reflect to antiskid control. CONSTITUTION: A speed maximum sensor and a speed minimum sensor are selected from signals of respective wheel speed sensors, and the ratio of speed signals of the speed maximum sensor and the speed minimum sensor is calculated. Then, a fact of whether or not this ratio has exceeded the setting value is judged, and in the case of exceeding the setting value, it is set to wheel deceleration with the deceleration of the maximum speed sensor, and thus a surface friction factorμis estimated in this way. Each wheel revolution signal out of four wheel speed sensors 2FLS, 2FRS, 2RLS and 2RRS to be installed in each wheel is taken into an electronic control unit 7 which executes an arithmetic process in accordance with programs and data stored in the memory, feeding three solenoid valves 4FL, 4FR and 4R of an actuator 4 with each of driving signals, and thus the expected antiskid control is executed.
