PURPOSE: To dispense with a spring by which a piston rod follows a cam so as to prevent generation of an offset load by arranging a connecting means connecting the cam and the piston rod together and forcibly pulling out the piston rod toward the cam by means of the connecting means in a vacuum pump. CONSTITUTION: A vacuum pump for a negative pressure source in a brake booster arranged in a vehicle is reciprocated via a piston rod 32 by means of the rotation of a cam 30. A piston 34 fitted in a cylinder 36 is arranged. The cam 30 and the piston rod 32 are connected together by means of a connecting means 50 without disturbing any rotation of the cam 30. The connecting means 50 consisting of a pair of links 52, a substantially cylindrical pin 54, and a double cam roller 56 forcibly pulls out the piston rod 32 toward the cam 30. In this way, an offset load in a contact point between the cam 30 and the piston rod 32 is eliminated, and deflected abrasion is prevented. |
