PURPOSE: To generate a natural translation by taking notice of information of the nature of a predicate in an input text, the presence/absence and the classification of an adverb phrase modifying the predicate, or the like at the time of presuming the input text to have an intermediate syntax. CONSTITUTION: A translating part 5 which uses contents of a translation dictionary part 6 to execute the translation processing of an inputted original discriminates whether the input text is an intermediate syntax or not, and when it is an intermediate syntax, original information is changed to perform the translation processing. It is discriminated whether the original is an intermediate syntax or not based on information of the nature of a predicate in the original, the presence/absence and the classification of the adverb phrase modifying the predicate, or the like. When the original is an intermediate syntax, a structure conversion rule based on characteristics of the predicate is applied to convert the structure of the original, and thereafter, the translation processing is performed. When the original is an intermediate syntax, grammatical information is added to the translation result of the predicate to output the result. |
