PURPOSE: To precisely set time in respective measuring instruments in a measurement system which consists of a controller that measures characteristics of a communication network of an ISDN, etc., and the measuring instruments. CONSTITUTION: The controller 21 has a counter 43 which outputs a count value CN increasing each time a prescribed fine unit time is elapsed. In response to a time setting command, a line extending to a measuring instrument 22 is formed to send a start command to the measuring instrument 22, and then the count value of the counter 43 is sent to the measuring instrument 22. A 1/2 count value of the difference count value between a count value which is looped back by the measuring instrument 22 and the current count value of the counter 43 is calculated. The write time obtained by adding the read 1/2 count value to the current time of a timer circuit 37 is sent to the measuring instrument 22. The measuring instrument 22, on the other hand, loops back the count value received after the time setting command is received and the received write time is set to its own timer circuit 38. |
