PURPOSE: To accurately calculate the sectional area of a bathtub even if an error is included in the detected value of a bathtub water level by obtaining the sectional area in the bathtub from the sum of the drop-in amount of water and the previous drop-in amount and a water level difference before and after both the drop-in if the level difference before and after the drop-in the bathtub is a predetermined value or less. CONSTITUTION: A bathtub 12 has water level detecting means in the bathtub 12 and means for detecting the drop-in amount of hot water in the bathtub 12. The level detecting means is a pressure sensor 19 for detecting the water level of the level or more of a bath adapter 15, and the means for detecting the drop-in is a flow sensor 25. Thus, water levels h1 , h2 before and after a hot water quantity q1 is dropped in, are detected, a water level h3 after hot water quantity q2 is dropped in the bathtub is detected. When the water level difference between the levels h3 and h3 is a predetermined value or less, mean sectional area S2 B=(q1 +q2 )/(h3 -h1 ) between the levels h1 and h3 is obtained, and further a constant (k) (>1; e.g. k=1.1) is multiplied by the area S2 B, and S2 C=k×S2 B is obtained.
