PURPOSE: To enable errors of a new paragraph starting value due to the inherent dispersion of each serial printer to be automatically corrected by measuring positional distances between printing dots before and after starting a new paragraph by an image scanner to be referenced with a theoretical value, and correcting the paper feeding quantity in accordance with its differences. CONSTITUTION: For conducting a new paragraph starting correction of a serial printer with an image scanner 31 mounted on the carriage 30 and a mechanism for reading manuscripts through the reciprocation of the carriage 30 in the same manner as the serial printer, positional distances between the printing dots before starting a new paragraph and after starting a new paragraph is measured by the mounted scanner 31 to then be referenced with a given theoretical value, and paper feeding quantity is corrected in accordance with its differences. In other way, only dot printing is carried out before stating a new paragraph to thereby be referenced with a predetermined theoretical value, and a paper feeding quantity is corrected in accordance with its differences. |
