The handrail (1) which is made from a tubular section (4) has a longitudinal slot (5) in its peripheral wall. This slot allows access to an internal slide track (6) formed by two parallel side walls (7,8). The fixing comprises a bracket (3) having at one end a base (15) which is fixed in the wall (2) and at the other end a guide able to slide in the track. The guide is formed by a head (27) with a screw (26) whose threaded part (28) screws into a tapping (20) in the bracket. The bracket comprises an L shaped elbow (14) having a first branch (18) fixed to the base. In the end of its second branch (19) is the tapping. A collar (13) between the end surface (21) of the second branch and the tubular section peripheral wall has a front surface (23) supported on the wall. A second front surface (24) is supported on the end surface (21) of the second branch. An axial passage (25) allows passage of the screw thread.
