Device for protecting the needle of an injection syringe comprises a safety cylinder (3) which is pushed by means of a pin towards the front of the syringe so that it fits in a longitudinal groove (8) which is situated on the barrel (9). The upper part of the cylinder pref. incorporates a lever (1) which is raised to bend the needle and then depressed to force a pin (15) through a pre-perforated hole (14) in the barrel to lock the syringe and render it unusable for a second injection.
