A process for producing an absorbent structure in an absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, a panty guard, an incontinence guard, a diaper, bed protector and like articles. The invention is based on a desire to improve the mat-forming and core-forming process, by removing the cores (6) from the mat-forming unit after the mat-forming process and compressing the cores with the aid of a pair of synchronously rotating rolls (4, 8). In additon to cellulose fibres, the absorbent structure may also include superabsorbent material and/or binding fibres, among other things. |
