The pump consists of an inlet (14) and an outlet (15) and the gears for moving the material from the inlet to the outlet. The pumping gears are mounted on at least one rotating shaft (2, 3), which is supported and guided in its rotation by appropriate bearings. Between the bearings is a pumping zone (20) and a dead zone (9). A cleaning tube (10) is introduced into a hole (8), which is provided longitudinally in the rotating shaft. A source of pressurised cleaning fluid is connected, selectively, when required, to deliver the cleaning fluid to the cleaning tube. The tube has an outlet orifice (40), which is arranged so that the emerging cleaning fluid circulates in the pumping and the dead zones in order to clean them.
