Thermally operated bimetal element for mechanical actuator or switch

A thermally operated bimetal element is suitable for an electrical switching component in e.g. temperature-controlled domestic equipment or as a mechanical actuator controlling other equipment operation. The bimetal element is formed as a disc (1) with a circular aperture (2) which is mounted in its operating position via a sector-shaped metal holding fixture (7) having a hole (8) for a screw fastener (31) and fixing/locating tabs (12,13,14) which engage with the internal and external edges of the disc (1) such as to permit lateral freedom in the direction (S) during a changeover operation (29). A notch (10) and projection (11) prevent rotation of the disc (1) w.r.t. the fixture (7).
