Colour ink jet print printer

An ink jet printer has a multi cartridge unit containing black, yellow, magenta and cyan inks that are fed to a print head. Both units are mounted on a carriage that is moved on a slide along the length of the printer. The original image data relating to the output required is received by a processor 25. The processor has a boundary discriminator 20 for black data and a separator 21 for black data. Coupled to this is an image point control unit 22 and an print head control unit 23. The system operates such that mixing of two colours at a boundary is prevented in order that their is not a difference in the colour tone. The system operates with fluids that have different diffusibility.
