Antilock braking system acting on rear wheel of motor vehicle

The control unit (CR) receives signals from individual wheel tachometers (3FL, 3FR, 3RL, 3RL) and a longitudinal accelerometer (13) on the bodywork of the vehicle. It produces three brake fluid pressure control signals (EV, AV, MR) for each hydraulic adjustor (6), which act on its inlet and outlet valves and hydraulic pump respectively. The system selects the lower of two wheel speed signals from a controlled rear wheel and from the diagonally opposite front wheel, and operates the adjustor for the selected rear wheel accordingly. The process involves a max. value selector (16), pseudo-road-speed calculator (17) and wheel brake cylinder pressure controller (18) with microprocessor (25b) and memory (25c).
