A desk top type printer is produced as a module P that locates accurately on studs that project from a base unit 10. The base has a pullout tray 30 that is used to store a stack of paper sheets. When the tray is fully inserted the sheets are extracted singly from the top and are fed to the printer. Each sheet is transferred by a roller feed unit into a vertical curved channel formed between a pair of flap down covers 40,50 that include a preheating stage for ink jet printing. The sheets pass into the entry channel of the printer and when fully printed are discharged at the front. A separate entry point is provided for single sheets.
