The paper processing device has a stack region (33) for sequential stacking of printed paper (8) for a number of printing process units and an unloading mechanism (4,6) for unloading a stack of printed paper from the stack region to the outside. A stack quantity detector determines the number of pieces of printed paper in a stack. A stacking termination device stops the stacking action when the stack quantity detection device has detected a certain number of stacked sheets. The unloading mechanism then unloads the stack.
