SOLAR POWERED PRICE DISPLAY SYSTEM

An information display system (200) comprises a controller (110), a ceiling node (120A, 120B), a rail, an end cap (130A-130C) and a solar powered display module (140AA-140CC). The display module (140AA-140CC) stores and displays information. The controller (110) communicates with the end cap (130A-130C) through an IR downlink and an RF uplink, and the end cap (130A-130B) communicates with the display module (140AA-140CC) by wired communication. By uniquely combining RF and IR communication systems in the information display system (200), communication between the controller (110) and the module (140AA-140CC) is fast and accurate and the display module's (140AA-140CC) power consumption is significantly reduced to make a solar powered information display system (200) practical. By a unique power bus (250A-250C), excess power is shared.
