Mixture formation for IC engines

Pref. during low RPM, and during idling, the engine carburettor is always operated at the limits, or below, a safely ignitable mixture. After leaving the non-ignitable area, the carburettor lambda can achieve values, which are outside an ignitable mixture. Further injection of optimized and correlating partial fuel volumes secure further actual outer and inner mixture formation. The fuel supply to the carburettor can be switched on and off. The carburettor lambda is constant, but smaller than 1,7. Carburettor and injection unit are independent systems, and the injection unit only is operated via the engine management.
