The unsorted coins, after inserting, pass down a coin track to rollers, where the height of each coin is measured by light gates, with no physical contact, account being taken of the angle of incidence. The rolling velocity of a coin is also measured by other light gates. Notes can be exchanged by the automatic cash box for coins and there is electronic equipment for calculating the value of a coin from the rolling velocity, the angle and the action of gravity, in combination with its height, and for evaluating winnings.
