A valve housing (911) has a vertical bore, containing a hollow body (914) with a limited fluid volume (20). The body consists of an elastic corrugated tube, which is sealed by upper and lower flanges (915,916). The tube, and a thin-walled tube (917) surrounding it and fastened to the lower flange, form a valve body. The flange covers a branch pipe (907) from the lower housing cover to a radiator in the vehicle front. A wide section (918) of the thin-walled tube covers a bypass pipe (909), which branches off the front of the valve housing. A feed (906) connection to the bypass valve is located at the lower rear of the valve housing, so that cooling water coming from the engine, and heated via a latent heat store, flows into the valve housing.
