The weighing device has a number of weighting cells (1,...4) together providing 8 expansion measuring strips (D1,...D4; S1,...S4), 4 of which are expanded under the applied load and 4 of which are compressed, connected in series in a single Wheatstone bridge circuit. The Wheatstone bridge circuit is supplied with a voltage across one of its diagonals, with the output signal obtained from the other diagonal, with further signals obtained from the upper and lower bridge halves used to provide edge loading compensation.
