A bio-sensor type monitoring device for abnormal water quality is provided to control the substrate concentration of a substrate solution supplied to recover the activity of microorganism easily and adequately. In a bio-sensor type monitoring device for abnormal water quality comprising: a bio-film(13) which maintains microorganism which consumes dissolved oxygen contained in a mixture water, wherein the mixture water consists of a substrate solution containing a plurality of substrate ingredients which is a nutrition source of the microorganism and a sample water(3); and a bio-sensor(8) having a dissolved oxygen electrode(11) outputting an electricity signal in accordance with the consumption amount of the dissolved oxygen and determining the water quality to be abnormal when then electricity signal exceeds a level determined to be abnormal, the device further comprises a substrate solution storage container(15) which contains a substrate ingredient not involving with respiration metabolism of the microorganism and stores an activity adjusting substrate solution for activating the microorganism, and an activity adjusting substrate solution supplying tool which is a constant flow pump(26) and supplies the stored activity adjusting substrate solution to the bio-sensor when it is determined that the activity of the microorganism is lowered. The device further comprises a washing solution storage container(19) which stores washing solution for washing a supply line of the mixture water and the activity adjusting substrate solution and a washing solution transmitting tool(20) which transmits the stored washing solution toward the supply line during washing.
