PURPOSE: To detect the service life of a photoreceptor drum based on the total number of rotation of the photoreceptor drum. CONSTITUTION: This image forming device is provided with the photoreceptor drum 17 of a process cartridge 18, and an electrification roller 19 and a cleaning blade 22a are arranged in contact with the drum 17. The surface of the photoreceptor drum 17 wears corresponding to the increase of the printing number of sheets. The drum wear amount is in a correspondence relation to the total number of rotation of the photoreceptor drum 17. A nonvolatile RAM 29 is arranged in the process cartridge 18, and the successively updated total number of rotation of the photoreceptor drum 17 is stored in the RAM 29 through the read/write device 26d by a controller 26. At the time of printing, the controller 26 compares the preliminary stored service life of the drum with the total number of rotation stored in the RAM 29, thereby continuing the printing if the total number of rotation is below the service life of drum. The excellent print without fogging image can be performed until the limit of the service life. |
