PURPOSE: To enhance the dispersibility of magnetic powder, to improve the stability of a coating material and to provide a medium having stable quality by incorporating an aminoquinone structure represented by a prescribed formula as constituent units into the compsn. of a resin in a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION: At least one of aminoquinone structures represented by the formulae is contained as structural units in the compsn. of a resin as at least one of the binder components of a magnetic layer. Powder of a metallic magnetic substance has 0.03-0.10μm major axis size and 45-80m<2> /g BET specific surface area. The magnetic layer contains a crosslinking agent.
