PRODUCTION OF SUBSTANCE AS PRECURSOR OF CARBON AND CARBON MATERIAL

摘要

PURPOSE: To produce a substance as a precursor of carbon giving a high-grade carbon material having selective adsorption with polyvinylidene chloride resin as starting material. CONSTITUTION: Polyvinylidene chloride resin is heated in an aq. ammonia soln. under pressure to form the objective substance as a precursor of carbon having >=50wt.% carbon atom content. This substance is carbonized by heating to >=500 deg.C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to obtain the objective carbon material.
