The water heater controls the heat amount of the heat exchanger by the steps of checking each flow rate(W) into a heat exchanger(2) by a flow rate sensor(5); checking an outlet temperature(To) from the heat exchanger(2) by a temperature sensor(6); calculating a heating time(t) by a formula, W1+W2+...+Wn=C(C: capacity of heat exchanger); summing up a total heating quantity (Qt) for the heating time(t) by a formula, Q1+Q2+...+Qn=Qt, and calculating an increased temperature ( Ót) by a formula, Ót=Qt/Wn (Wn: flow rate of water with outlet temperature To); calculating entering temperature (Ti) into heat exchanger(2) by a formula, Ti=To- ÓT; setting a new heat amount(Q) by a formula, Q=W(Ts-Ti)(Ts: setting temperature, W: new flow rate); and controlling the heat amount(Q) to make the outlet temperature(To) equal to the setting temperature(Ts).
