PRODUCTION OF HOLLOW FIRED BODY

PURPOSE: To produce a hollow fired body such as a lightweight aggregate having low specific gravity, capable of controlling the specific gravity and high in strength. CONSTITUTION: A raw material particle is formed by adding a combustible reduced material to a natural mineral powder or fly ash powder contg. >=60wt.% SiO2 and >=60vol.% glass and granulating the result into a prescribed particle diameter. The raw material particle is fired at its softening temp., preferably by controlling oxygen concn. in the atmosphere and firing time to make the hollow fired body.
