PURPOSE: To improve mainly fuel consumption in an engine by automatically stopping the engine by releasing a clutch and by stopping fuel supply in a condition that a driver has no will of acceleration further with a vehicle in fixed speed running. CONSTITUTION: A control means 4 for an automatic start/stop device 2 is constituted of the first control means 6 and the second control means 8 of inputting a clutch on/off request signal from this first control means. A means A of discriminating the driver's will of acceleration based on each detection signal from a throttle opening sensor 14 and from a negative pressure sensor 22 and a means B of discriminating running by a fixed speed of a vehicle based on each detection signal from a car speed sensor 16 and from an engine speed sensor 18, are arranged in the control means 4 respectively. In a condition without the will of acceleration further with fixed speed running, an engine is stopped by releasing a clutch 32 and stopping fuel supply. On the other hand, after stopping the engine, in a condition of providing the will of acceleration further to change running, the engine is started. |
