PURPOSE: To enhance overall uniformity and performance and to reduce costs by forming a full face wheel disc which is completed by interconnection of one part manufactured as the central mounting part of the disc and the other part manufactured as the remainder of the disc. CONSTITUTION: This wheel 110 constitutes a three-piece assembly formed of rims 12 and constitutes a two-piece disc 112 formed of a central mounting part 114 and an outer part 116. A joint 120 is disposed between a plurality of portions 114, 116 and is disposed radially inwardly in a frusto-conical hat section 54' and inboard of a crown 56'. The junction 120 includes a plurality of frusto-conical flanges 122, 124 whose outboard ends 126 and inboard ends 128 are joined together. The junction 120 further includes inboard and outboard weld beads 130, 132. During manufacture, three wheel parts, i.e., the rim 12, the disc mounting part 114 and the disc outer part 116 are individually mass-produced. |
