PURPOSE: To provide a plotter with which outline data can be processed and plotted at a high speed by using a previously prepared table equipped with relative complementary position information. CONSTITUTION: Concerning the plotter for plotting the outline data defined by a complementary point sequence consisting of the contour line of a line/character/graphic or the like, this device is composed of a line segment extracting means 101 for extracting a line segment expressing both the coordinate values of two points on the contour line as integral values and extracting the length of two line segments and a plotting direction corresponding to the X and Y directions of those line segments, complementary position information table 102 previously storing a lot of relative complementary position information for selecting the complementary point sequence of the contour line corresponding to the line segment lengths in the X and Y direction, complementary point extracting means 103 for calculating the coordinate value of a complementary point on a two-dimensional coordinate plane while referring to the complementary position information table 102 from two line segment lengths and the plotting direction corresponding to the X and Y directions of two extracted points, and plotting means 104 for successively plotting the calculated coordinate values of complementary points on the two-dimensional coordinate plane. |
