PURPOSE: To stably obtain the image of high image quality without fogging and density unevenness caused by developing by performing the uniform electrostatic charging and the uniform layer forming of developer on a developer carrier by an easy method in the developing device of a copying machine or the like using an electrophotographic system. CONSTITUTION: As for the developing device for forming a developer layer on the developer carrier 14 by allowing a developer layer regulating member 15 to abut on the developer carrier 14 and performing the developing, the developer layer regulating member 15 consists of a regulation layer constituted of an elastic member having a surface directly in contact with the developer carrier 14, a joint layer constituted of one or more kinds of joint members and a supporting layer constituted of a supporting member supporting them. It press- contacts with the developer carrier 14 through arbitrary nip width on the surface in contact with the developer carrier 14, and the hardness of the contact part with the developer carrier 14 in the vicinity of a nip part is different from that of an other part. |
